Oct 15, 2023 · I just recently purchased my 2015 4runner with 95k miles. One of the first things I wanted to do was some maintenance that I know weren’t done on the vehicle. Was doing the differential fluid change and ran into a problem. I changed the back but had to replace the fill plug because how bad it was seized in there.
Change that diff oil. Changed the rear differential oil at 45K, it had a good amount of shavings, which is normal for an initial fluid change. I changed the transfer case oil as well, visually it looked great.
