Hello, my friend and I typically stick together but can sometimes find the tether distance to be restrictive. Update: Our 3rd friend upgraded to a series X. On Ragnarok we have a 2-4 KM tether distance (not sure of the exact distance) when all 3 of us are playing. If only 2 play there's no tether distance at all. It seems like on console non dedicated it's no tether distance for 2 player, 2-4k tether distance when a third player joins.Game Suggestions Archive. We tried changing the tether distance from 1 to 3 on Xbox and it did not change. We were still only allowed to be about 180ish meters apart. You used to be able to put 99 on the original game and basically be on the opposite side of the map but ye it doesn't appear to do anything on Asa. Hopefully it gets fixed.

Yeah we set it to an absurd number, it was working earlier today but it doesn’t work anymore. We can't do anything because we can't increase tether distance like we used to with classic Ark. This has to be a deliberate decision on the game developer's part.
Open ARK. Click Host/Local. Scroll down in the left pane. Drag the slider for Non-Dedicated Host Tether Distance. You can also type in a number if you want to increase it above 3.0. Start your game. This is only something you need to do for a non-dedicated server.

NO the settings to make the tether range go further are NOT working. YES you can host a dedicated server from your PC for FREE. Make sure you have your Steam library set to show tools and games.
