Hotel is my personal recommendation, imo it doesn't feel like they have Camp EDC figured out yet logistically. It's also nice to actually get some good sleep when you get back and can use the black out shades and can get any type of food you want afterwords. If you are able to get your hands on shuttles, that would be my recommendation.

it normally dies down by 9 PM. Been to 5 EDC and all 5 took shuttle so that's 15 day of shuttling. 6-9 PM is most busy and longest line. Anything after 9 is pretty much just a few batch of people. Remember that it also takes 60-90 minutes to get to EDC. So if you take a 11pm shuttle you won't get to EDC until probably after midnight.

If you book with Homebass it includes shuttles. The ppl organizing it said they lined up 30 buses compared to something like 15 that they had last year. Hopefully that'll make it a very smooth/easy process getting there and back each night.
If the room is in your name, skip the Rio plan to get to edc. Go to the aria, check in (if the room is your name), i would honestly use the bell hop there instead of wasting time to go to the room.
