Roseville was chosen as the area was rich with clay, and the land was given to the company free of charge in recognition of the employment opportunities and revenue it would bring to the area. Hull Pottery had numerous signatures on their pottery with some good attributes. One, a lot of the pieces had numbers and letters of the alphabet that allows you to determine the pattern name, the size and the number of the piece. Some pieces also had the name of the pattern signed on the bottom of the piece making identification easy.
