The trick is to reinstall GShade using the DXVK Experimental option (I originally used DirectX 9). If any other GShade beginners want to know how to do that, here's how: Open the GShade Control Panel and head to Installations > Add New. Then, instead of DirectX 9 scroll down to the DXVK (Experimental) option. Unlike GShade, vanilla ReShade disables the depth buffer when a certain threshold of network activity is detected. That means effects like MXAO (Ambient Occlusion, or "shadows") which rely on depth just stop working altogether or malfunction when that threshold is met.
