You would loose efficiency and 5 to 8% Horse power with a distillate head. Flat top pistons can be replaced with domed pistons (originally for higher altitude) that will perk it up. Jim.
Nov 3, 2018 · Posted November 3, 2018. I REALLY enjoyed stepping up to the stage 2 Super H spring of 1968, May 8th If I remember correctly. Lots faster and more powerful than the '39 H it replaced. SH was a lot simpler to service, but a 300/350 with TA, LPTO, maybe even factory PS lot easier to use on lots of jobs. The M has a little more power (an 88 would be more comparable)and a faster road gear than the 77 but thats about where the M's advantages end. The Oliver 77 has a 6 speed transmission, 6 cylinder engine, live pto, (a must for bailing)live hydraulics, and a 12 volt electrical system.
