I watched a couple of YouTube videos where the Kimber Take-down tool was used. MHO is that little tool makes me nervous. A couple of guys use the 1911 Ultra Take Down tool.

Use a 2-3# hammer and a brass or steel punch to drive the rear sight out. Wrap the tip of the punch with duct tape to help prevent scratches.
