To jump it, you need to get 12V to wherever the start signal wire attaches to the solenoid. It's purple on my tractor, but I am not sure about the 318. This is usually very easily done with a screw driver between the red wire and the start signal wire.

The only reason the VTX doesnt is because the Bosch +4 plugs seem to work better in that particular application.
