In the end it all boils down to what you really prefer. You want a classy, quiet, luxurious ride and fun to drive vehicle on a budget; get the cx 5. If u prefer back seat space and larger trunk, then get the Rav 4. Get the rav 4 hybrid if u want to save on gas. When it comes to looks, I prefer the CX5.

From my point of view, the "equivalent" technology packages will bring the total price of the XLE Premium up to $40100 and the XSE $41200 (so roughly a $1000 difference). In my head, the XSE has a nicer interior, the panoramic view would be amazing to have, but TBH I don't care at all about the panoramic sunroof.
