Putting it in manual mode, I found that the door has a lot of extra drag, probably beyond the threshold of the pinch sensor's sensitivity.

To re-home the doors do this: erase the sliding door DTC's by removing No. 7 fuse from the under-dash fuse box then reinstall it. Turn off the main switch for the doors.
