I have since passed my 1983 Marlin to my oldest, and acquired Dad's 1967 Marlin in it's place. That one will always be here. The JM stamp makes it a pre Remington buyout, real Marlin.If a gun has the JM stamp then it is a true Marlin not a Remington/Marlin as they don't have the JM stamp.
