That was my 1st thought as well, but he said after it sits awhile it is hard to start. Normally injectors with high returns come into play when, say you shut truck off to refuel. The fuel is warm and flows easier and it wont restart. If those are the original batteries, I would be suprised if they are up to the task. Hard warm starts, crank time in excess of 3-4 seconds, is a sign of injector problems.
