Aside from the DNS issues, I think VZW is just over-provisioned; and I suspect their systems in general are overloaded. I wouldn't be surprised if their DNS server for wo.vzwwo.com has been unstable for a long time, and it just shit the bed completely yesterday. As I said, I've been having intermittent issues for at least a month.
