My advice, put it at TV height, so about a 10 inches lower than it currently is. Eye level should be within the lower 3rd of the screen. Some may prefer midpoint depending on size. Sit on your sofa and look straight ahead. Place the tv accordingly. Not literally. The sight of a TV too high just hurts!!! Ha!! Airports and doctor's offices have done it for decades. It's generally expected there. It becomes a disease when people see it -- and import the too high TV blasphemy into their own homes. Ha!! Hilarious and true!!Agree! You want your straight line of sight to be at the top of the screen or slightly higher. If you’re looking a bit lower than your line of sight, you’ll generally just move your eyes down. My general thought is that people want to center their tv on the wall for esthetics and so they end up mounting too high. Or just simply don’t think about it while they are doing it and mount the tv at eye level while standing. Doesn't quite work as well with flat screens though. In my area it’s because the living rooms are so small, the only wall is above the fireplace which is too tall.
