They lived for like 7-8 years surprisingly and they really didn't require much maintence all things considered but its just people treating pets/animals as objects and vanity items rather than living creatures that make it so frustating.

So no dechlorination, removal of heavy metals, etc. other than when a cow comes and takes a slurp. This horrible "sweet water" aquarium that's trying to combine fresh and saltwater fish in a brackish tank. Supposedly intended to explain how the fish survived during Noah's Flood, but I'm surprised that half the fish here are still alive in the first place. I like to soak items like that in a slightly acid water tank with a pump running for a few days to a few weeks so that any chemicals that want to dissolve and leech out can leech out into the tank of mildly acidic water, which is tap water with little vinegar, rather than into the fish.
