The starter is not engaging but the battery is dropping to 11.7 volts with not much load. The buzzing and clicking could be the starter trying to pick up but dropping back out when battery voltage drops.

The main difference with the power output of the 1300 vs the Roadstar is the bore and stroke. The Roadstar has a longer stroke for more torque, where as the 1300 has a shorter stroke with higher compression. The 1300 was made to run at higher RPM range, so it's much quicker than the Roadstar.

Check the forums, but this is a great bike. One of the downsides I can mention are accessories. There really isn't much out there. If you do a full exhaust, there is a mod to the air cleaner to bring in more fresh air. More air in and more air out equals more HP, but you're going to want a tuner.

Yamaha Customer Service says this is a unique problem that they have never heard of.
