It’s true that the actress playing young Sang Zhi is only 10 years old, but I don’t see that as a problem. It would be a problem if the show was putting a 10-year-old in an inappropriate situation with a much older man, but there’s honestly none of that. Gaksital is a show that manages to take a political context and ground it in the personal experience and emotion of our characters, and then by extension, help us to care about that political context in a way more visceral that I expected.
