The button on the outside of the tailgate does the same. I have to lift manually. The button to close the tailgate does nothing, when it would have typically beeped and start the closing sequence.Any door or the hood not completely closed witt cause it. The door will lock but the alarm won't set. A common one is the hood switch. The only way to find it is to test all the switches. +1 that is exactly what I was trying to say but you said it better.
