Wiping the bottle necks allows the bottles to seal properly thereby extending the life of your polish. I've never had any problem using acetone to clean the neck of a polish bottle. Multiple thin coats is better than less thick coats for lasting ime. 1-2 layers of top coat (one glitter smoothing + one regular for textured polish) No more than two of the color should be needed.
